Prabhas’ biggest film Salaar is going to clash with Shah Rukh Khan and Raj Kumar Hirani’s film Dunki this Christmas weekend. Dunki’s promotion is going to start with a bang on Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday with the release of its teaser on November 2. A big event is also being planned by SRK with his fans for the teaser launch.
Post-Baahubali, Prabhas’ films always had a solo release with no big competition. But this time the opponent is strong. Shah Rukh Khan and Raj Kumar Hirani are big brands individually and this time they are coming together for the first time, so fireworks are expected at the box office. SRK will go all out to make sure Dunki gets the hype it deserves.
Prabhas has always been lowkey when it comes to promoting his films. He prefers to avoid promotions except for attending an event and one or two scripted interviews.
But this time that might not be sufficient. Prabhas might have to step out to promote Salaar in a big way. He cannot leave it completely on Shruthi Haasan, Prithviraj, or Prashanth Neel.
A lot is at stake for Prabhas and Salaar. All Prabhas’ films in the last 5 years fizzled out after having an impressive opening. This time getting just an opening won’t be enough. The film will have to have long legs to prove beneficial.
Salaar has to do a minimum business of 1000 crores gross worldwide for everyone associated with the film to be in the safe zone.
