KGF: Chapter 1 hit the cinemas for Christmas 2018. It had a fantastic run theatrically and has had a smashing debut online, more than a year ago.
After almost two years, KGF: Chapter 1 is getting a Television premiere. Yes, on the coming Sunday (July 5th, 2020), the cult blockbuster will have its first official small screen screening in Telugu.
The question that immediately comes to many minds is – will its TRP ratings be a reflection of the craze on the movie? If it gets good ratings that would only be a validation of the rage, the film is among the audience, and thereby on its sequel as well. But what if it doesn’t?
There is a section which is willing to pounce on it if it fails to garner a high number. Well, to them, it must be reminded that KGF is airing after a long gap. It is different from the television premieres a decade or so ago. Back then, the gap ensured curiosity and high TRP’s. But now, not only has the piracy increased manifolds (along with technology), there are the OTT platforms. Almost everyone who might have heard about KGF could have seen it.
The premiere and subsequently the TRP ratings of KGF: Chapter 1 Telugu version is, therefore, keenly observed. It is getting the focus due to the sequel coming up, KGF: Chapter 2. Let’s see how it fares on the small screen after such a long gap. A good number will obviously be a boost of confidence to everyone.
