Director Buchi Babu Sana is brimming with confidence ahead of the release of Peddi, the much-awaited action drama starring Mega Power Star Ram Charan. Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, the film is all set for a grand worldwide release on June 4, with special premieres scheduled for June 3.
The director revealed that Ram Charan’s dedication to the project was extraordinary. For the wrestling portions, the team brought in trainers associated with the acclaimed film Dangal and worked with professional wrestlers from Telangana. Charan himself underwent rigorous training for several months to authentically portray the role.
Ram Charan’s transformation is the biggest talking points. Buchi Babu revealed that the character’s journey was divided into three phases. “I designed the looks using AI references and showed them to Charan. But what he eventually achieved was even better than what I had imagined. His performance and transformation are absolutely mind-blowing. You won’t see Ram Charan, you will only see Peddi,” the director said.
Buchi Babu was equally enthusiastic while speaking about the ensemble cast. Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar plays a mentor-like figure who keeps the spirit of the sport alive, while Jagapathi Babu’s Appala Suri is described as one of the most powerful characters in the film, second only to the protagonist. Divyenndu Sharma, meanwhile, has a role that the director promises will surprise audiences.
On Janhvi Kapoor’s Telugu debut, the filmmaker had nothing but praise. “She brings a unique charm to the film. She’s intelligent, passionate about cinema, extremely dedicated, and very humble. The love story portions have come out beautifully,” he said.
While many are eagerly discussing the film’s climax, Buchi Babu remained careful not to reveal too much. “You need to experience it on the big screen. Everyone who has watched it so far has called it extraordinary,” he stated.
When asked to describe Peddi in a single line, the director said, “Watch it with your family. It is emotional, commercial, entertaining, and heartwarming. The journey of Peddi and what the sport teaches him will connect with everyone.”
The filmmaker also revealed that the trailer deliberately avoided exposing a crucial emotional segment that forms the heart of the narrative. According to him, Peddi is far more than a sports drama, with a powerful emotional core that unfolds over a key fifteen-minute stretch.
