800, the biopic of renowned Sri Lankan cricketer Muthiah Muralidaran, is gearing up for its theatrical release on October 6. The film is directed by MS Sripathy. Senior Tollywood producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad has bought the all-India theatrical rights of the film.
Speaking at the biopic’s pre-release event on Monday, Sivalenka Krishna Prasad described Muralidaran as a humble and down-to-earth person. “I feel fortunate that VVS Laxman, who is a Padma Shri, is our guest today. It will always be an experience for me to release the movie. Director Sripathy has ensured that the output is great and emotional in nature,” he added.
VVS Laxman said that Muthiah is one of the greatest talents to have graced cricket. “He is outstanding, genuine and warm-hearted. I call him Murali. He is a dear friend. He is brotherly. He is bringing up his two kids in an exemplary manner,” Laxman said.
Muthiah said that he and Laxman have worked together on the Sunrises Hyderabad team, a franchise of the IPL.
800 has Slumdog Millionaire fame Madhur Mittal in the role of Muralidaran while Mahima Nambiar plays his wife. The film will be released in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi.
Naren, Nassar, Vela Ramamoorthy, Riythvika, Vadivukkarasi, Arul Das and others are part of the cast. Ghibran has composed the music.
