Actor-producer GV Prakash Kumar is confident that his upcoming release, Kingston, is going to deliver a one-of-its-kind experience like Rajamouli’s Baahubali and Rishab Shetty’s Kantara.

In his latest interview, talking about the novelty in Kingston, GV Prakash says that while Baahubali unveiled a breathtaking world and Kantara a spiritual journey, Kingston charts a new territory. “Hollywood filmmakers bring their legends and folklore to the big screen. With Kingston, we are bringing to life the stories told by our grandmothers and ancestors,” he says.

The film, directed by Kamal Prakash, is going to be released in Telugu by Ganga Entertainments’ Maheswara Reddy. Coming March 7th, this India’s first fantasy sea adventure thriller will hit the cinemas.

GV Prakash, besides being its hero and one of the producers, is also its music director. He has experimented with new soundscapes. “Hollywood has produced fantasy sea films like Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean, but since this is an Indian film, I wanted to create an original sound without referencing them,” he says.

Shooting for the action sequences was the toughest part, given the involvement of underwater shots. Besides filming for underwater sequences (which involved training in holding the breath for three straight minutes), GV gave his all. The story involves zombies and spirits, lending it a fantasy element.

Co-starring Divyabharathi, Chetan, Azhagam Perumal, Elango Kumaravel and others, Kingston’s cinematography is done by Gokul Benoy.
