In what could be considered an extremely rare collaboration, two of the finest exponents of Indian cinema, Ilayaraja and Keeravani have come together for a film titled Shashtipurthi.
The teaser of the film was released last night, and there was something very interesting as Ilaiyaraaja was the one who launched the same .
At the teaser launch of the upcoming Telugu film Shashtipurthi held in Hyderabad, music legend Ilaiyaraaja made a rather surprising public appearance, something the maestro rarely does for film promotions.
The teaser of the film looks very promising as it primarily deals with human emotions and subtle drama. It is a well rounded teaser and it was released by Ilaiyaraaja himself.
The film has Rupeysh and Akanksha Singh in the lead roles while it also has better than Rajendra Prasad and Archana of legendary Ladies Tailer combination.
Directed by Pavan Prabha and produced by Rupesh Kumar Chowdary under the MAA AAI Productions banner, Shashtipurthi features a youthful cast and crew. The official release date is yet to be announced.
Veteran actor Rajendra Prasad, who plays a key role in the film, spoke about his deep respect for Ilaiyaraaja, calling him “Swami.” He shared how special it felt to reunite with the iconic composer after many years.
Also present at the event was Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani, who wrote the lyrics for the song Edo Ededo in the film’s soundtrack. He described the song as a reflection of the film’s core theme and a tribute to Ilaiyaraaja’s musical legacy.
Ilaiyaraaja explained that his reason for attending the event was to support and uplift the young, talented team behind Shashtipurthi. “You’ve been enjoying my music for many years,” he said. “And you’ll continue to do so with this film as well.”
