Sobhita Dhulipala, a talented actress who is a Telugu-origin, is set to make her Hollywood debut with the film ‘Monkey Man,’ directed and starred by Oscar-nominated actor Dev Patel. This action-thriller draws inspiration from the epic character Hanuman.
Sobhita, known for her exceptional performances, has gained widespread recognition across the country through films like Raman Raghav 2.0, Moothon, Major, Goodachari, Kurup, and acclaimed web series such as Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Made in Heaven’ and ‘The Night Manager’ alongside Aditya Roy Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. The recently released trailer for Monkey Man is receiving a phenomenal response, signaling a potential blockbuster Hollywood debut for Sobhita.
The trailer is impactful, immediately grabbing attention with a racy background score and action style of John Wick. Set in modern-day Mumbai, Monkey Man follows Kid (played by Patel), an ex-convict experiencing the harsh realities of India’s caste system. The film draws parallels between the criminals in Kid’s city and the villains from the Indian mythology he loved as a child.
Scheduled for release on April 5th, Monkey Man features an international ensemble cast and is backed by Universal Pictures and the Oscar-winning director Jordan Peele.
