Energy Efficiency Services Ltd, an affiliate of the Power Ministry has announced that it would invest 1000 Cr as a part of Andhra Pradesh’s 24 hour Power Supply Pilot Project. This 1000 Crore will be used for power saving by changing the existing street lights in to LEDs and the existing agricultural water motors to that of ISI marked motors. EESL is a joint venture between NTPC, Powergrid and other PSUs.
The team has advised several measures to conserve energy and eradicate losses. They say there is a scope of saving of around 20 per cent energy in the areas of domestic, agriculture and government buildings with all these measures. EESL also assured that there will not be any necessity for the state of municipalities to invest in this project which will start running very soon.
