We have seen Hyderabad submerged in a crisis brought by heavy rains in the last couple of days. And now it is the turn of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh. The incessant rains lashed several parts of the district disrupting Vehicular movement between Guntur and Hyderabad. Heavy rain also caused flooding of the railway track at a few places.

Several villages are inundated and efforts are on to rescue the people in the low-lying areas. Rains also lashed Kurnool district inundating several villages and obstructing the traffic on the Nandyal-Ongole Highway. East Godavari also received heavy rain in the last 24 hours, causing a rise in the water level of the Dowleswaram barrage to10.8 feet and resulting in the release of nearly two lakh cusecs into the sea.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is monitoring the situation constantly with Chief Secretary SP Tucker and district collectors to move people in the low-lying areas to safety and ensure necessary relief measures are taken without any delay. On the other side, Hyderabad is put on high alert as more rains are predicted in the next 48 hours.
