The Budameru Rivulet was breached due to recent floods in Vijayawada, causing severe damage to nearby areas. Recently, officials successfully sealed two of the breaches.
This morning, the third breach was also sealed, completing the closure of all breaches. As a result, floodwaters have stopped overflowing into the low-lying areas.

The work was carried out under the supervision of Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu. Earlier today, Minister Nara Lokesh visited the site to review the progress of the work.
The third breach was sealed with joint efforts from various agencies and army officials. Around 120 soldiers from the 6th Battalion of Chennai and the Regimental Battalion of Secunderabad took part in the operation.

The government has been working relentlessly over the past few days to close the breaches in Budameru. Officials managed to seal the first two breaches even during the peak of the floods.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu appreciated the officials for successfully sealing the breaches despite the challenges they faced.

With 60 cusecs of floodwater entering Budameru due to incessant rainfall, the Budameru Diversion Channel (BDC) suffered three breaches.
Meanwhile, Vijayawada has been experiencing heavy rainfall today. Thus, relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas are becoming more challenging.
