The 66th APCRDA Authority meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, has cleared a key step for Amaravati’s proposed iconic Assembly building.
The Authority approved ₹661 crore for the central spire and gave the go-ahead to call tenders for the construction.
The Assembly building is planned on around 103 acres, with a built-up area of about 11.22 lakh sq ft. The central spire is planned to rise around 250 metres, making it the most prominent part of the building.
The plan also includes a lift facility inside the spire. Earlier, Minister Ponguru Narayana said people would be able to visit the top of the Assembly complex when the House is not in session, offering a view of Amaravati.
The Assembly is part of Amaravati’s larger government complex, which includes the proposed High Court, administrative buildings and other iconic structures.
With the latest sanction, the spire project is now moving towards the tender stage.
The 250-metre Assembly spire is set to become one of the defining landmarks of Amaravati.
