Andhra Pradesh government had decided to expand the Capital Regional Development Authority by including two more towns – Jagayyapeta and Machilipatnam. The CRDA region will now extend up to AP-Telangana boundary in Nalgonda district.

The proposal is currently under the law department scrutiny and the CRDA may issue notification anytime. Currently the CRDA region has 29 mandals each in Krishna and Guntur districts covering an area of 7,325 sq km. The region will go up to about about 7,500 sq km once the two towns are added.
The reason for this expansion is to add more urban area to the CRDA and also these towns have lot of government lands. These lands will be formed as land banks for the green industries coming in the region in future.
