After the government announced extension for the land pooling, the entire process got slowed down for various reasons. After collecting 21742 acres, CRDA is now dealing with the more reluctant farmers who are refusing to part with their lands. Also the land pooling was delayed by Amavasya and Mahasivaratri.
Giving lands for building the new capital was a major decision and a huge turning point in the lives of landowners and hence they do not want to give their lands on such inauspicious day. The Land pooling is expected to gain momentum from today which is considered auspicious.
On the other side officials are having meetings with reluctant farmers to convince them to give their lands. There are hopes in some farmers that government may increase the compensation for the river side lands. However there is no such signal from government so far. Government may go for land acquisition in the remaining lands which are not surrendered to the government.
