A major fire broke out at the bustling commercial hub of Ameerpet in Hyderabad on Thursday afternoon, triggering intense panic among locals and commuters.
The blaze originated inside the ‘Helmet Bazaar’ showroom located near Metro Pillar 1043, right opposite the landmark Mythrivanam building.
Due to the highly inflammable plastic and fiber materials stored inside the showroom, the flames spread with alarming speed.
Thick, dense clouds of black smoke quickly blanketed the surrounding area, causing immediate alarm. Terrified shoppers, business owners, and employees rushed out of adjacent buildings onto the main roads for safety.
Upon receiving the alert, fire services and police personnel rushed to the spot on a war footing. Seven to nine fire tenders were deployed from nearby stations to battle the roaring inferno.
Firefighters worked intensively to contain the blaze. They successfully blocked the fire from destroying neighboring establishments, such as KSR Fashions.
As a precautionary measure, police evacuated students and occupants from the commercial structures nearby. Fortunately, authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported.
The incident caused a total gridlock on the main transit route stretching from Ameerpet to SR Nagar, leaving thousands of vehicles stranded.
Traffic police quickly cordoned off the area and diverted vehicular movement to alternate routes. While a preliminary assessment points toward a short circuit, a detailed investigation is underway.
