Anam Entry: New Problem In Atmakur TDP

Anam-Ramanarayana-Reddy-Murali-Kannababu-GuturuAnam Ramanarayana Reddy defected from TDP to YSR Congress before the 2019 election and became MLA from Venkatagiri. But then, he is troubled a lot and finally, Anam voted in favor of the TDP candidate in the MLA quota MLC elections and got suspended from the party.

It is a formality that he joins TDP and is already playing an active role in Nara Lokesh’s Padayatra arrangements in the Nellore district. But then, this has got a new problem for Atmakur TDP. Anam wants Atmakur ticket in the coming elections.

The existing incharge Guturu Kannababu is upset about admitting Anam to the party. He is not seen in the Padayatra anywhere.

“I have struggled to keep the party afloat after 2019. I supported the cadre which faced a lot of struggles in the four years of Jagan’s rule. Now, the party high command has allowed Anam who ditched the party and ran towards green pastures in difficult times,” Kannababu is reportedly telling his followers.

Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has a good reputation in the constituency. He has shown the development that no MLA has done in the history of this constituency between 2009 and 2014 when he was an MLA and minister. He is also credited with converting Atmakuru Gram Panchayat into a municipality during his tenure as Municipal Minister.

After that, as Finance Minister, he gave so much of the funds for development works in the Atmakur constituency. However, he contested as a Congress candidate from Atmakur in the 2014 elections and did not even get a deposit due to the bifurcation effect.

Atmakur is the first among the constituencies where the once Congress and now YSR Congress is strong. Since 1983, TDP only won twice in all the seven elections here. That too in the 1983 and 1994 elections when NTR’s wave worked strongly. In 1985, the people of Atmakur crowned the Congress even by defeating Venkaiah Naidu.

This is the constituency where the Reddy community is rampant which benefits YSR Congress. Moreover, leaders like former MLA Kommi Lakshmayyanaidu and Guturu Kannababu, who are seniors in the Telugu Desam Party, are unhappy with Anam. We will have to see how Anam will swim against the tide.
