The first female Home Minister of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh, Mekathoti Sucharita may be in trouble. An NGO has approached the President of India alleging that Sucharita is not an SC and has contested from a SC constituency.
Sucharitha herself in an interview, admitted that she is a Christian and according to the law, a person loses his SC status when he or she changes religion. The issue has been delayed for around two years now. But then, the issue has gone to SC Commission now.
The commission has written to the Guntur district Collector asking to complete the investigation in one week. Probably, Sucharitha has to resign and face the future course of action. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, in any ways, is contemplating to reshuffle his cabinet. He can move it forward to avoid these issues.
Sucharitha also happens to be one of the five Deputy Chief Ministers of the state.
