The previous YCP government faced several allegations of irregularities and financial mismanagement. The investigation has involved allegations of financial irregularities and diversion of funds. The Enforcement Directorate has also alleged that the liquor procurement and distribution system was manipulated and that proceeds were routed through various channels.
Several names have emerged in the case, including Raj Kasireddy, Dhanunjaya Reddy and others. Dhanunjaya Reddy and Krishna Mohan Reddy were arrested by the SIT in May 2025, while Raj Kasireddy has also faced arrest and subsequent legal proceedings in connection with the case.
The investigation has continued through both the SIT and the Enforcement Directorate. In June 2026, the ED investigation led to Raj Kasireddy and former APSBCL MD D Vasudev Reddy being remanded to judicial custody in a related liquor transport case.
Now, Andhra Pradesh BJP leader Madhav has made a significant statement on the ongoing liquor scam investigation. He said that some accused have already gone to jail and suggested that bigger names could also face legal action in the coming days.
Madhav did not name the person he was referring to. However, his statement has led to speculation about which senior figure could face further action as the investigation progresses.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has also been linked to allegations surrounding the liquor scam, although allegations against political figures remain subject to the ongoing investigation and legal process. A recent court statement by a former AP Beverages Corporation official reportedly alleged that Jagan was the ultimate beneficiary, while such allegations have to be established through the legal process.
The timing of Madhav’s statement has also attracted attention as Andhra Pradesh is heading towards local body elections. However, there is no confirmed information at this stage about any particular individual being arrested based on his comments.
There has also been speculation among political circles that the statement could be intended to keep pressure on the opposition. That interpretation remains political speculation and cannot be treated as an established fact.
For now, the liquor scam investigation continues, with multiple agencies and courts involved in different aspects of the case. Any further arrests or legal action will depend on the evidence and the decisions of the investigating agencies and courts.
