AP DGP’s Strong Warning To Social Media Users

The counting of the Indian General Elections will be held tomorrow. Andhra Pradesh is gearing up for the counting of both assembly and parliament elections.

The Election Commission has made necessary arrangements for the counting. Heavy police personnel have been deployed across the state to ensure a smooth counting process.

The EC and the police department have put a special focus on the problematic regions which witnessed violence after the polling. Strong vigilance has been placed on these areas and a few rowdysheeters who can erupt violence during the counting were arrested and a few others were put under house arrest.

Meanwhile, the police department is also focusing on social media. AP DGP Harish Kumar Gupta stated that strict action would be taken against netizens who make controversial and provocative comments on social media.

There will be continuous surveillance on social media posts on the counting day.

It was stated that many people on social media are delivering threats and issuing serious warnings to rival party members.

They are also resorting to personal abuses against one another. DGP Gupta stated that stringent action would be taken against these individuals.

They will be booked under the IT Act, and rowdy sheet cases will be filed against them. They may also be booked under the PD Act.

The police also stated that an investigation would be conducted to determine who was initiating these posts on social media.

It was stated that sharing provocative posts, photos, and videos or putting them as statuses is prohibited as well. The Group Admins on WhatsApp were asked to be alert in this matter.
