Bedrooms in Twitter HQ: Musk’s New Rule

Bedrooms in Twitter HQ: Musk's New RuleElon Musk has surely turned into employees’ nightmare at Twitter, where he is getting his present workforce to slog to fulfill the tech mogul’s ‘new vision for Twitter, also known as Twitter 2.0’. In an unprecedented move, Musk has now turned the depopulated office space into small bedrooms as the employees are expected to work in overdrive mode over the weekends and, at times, during public holidays.

Employees who turned up for work at the San Francisco office were in for a surprise as they got to see modest bedrooms featuring unmade mattresses, drab curtains, and giant conference-room telepresence monitors. Well, surely it is an upgrade from the Therm-a-Rest+sleeping bag situation shown by one Twitter employee in November.

While one of the rooms had a plant, another picture shared with the media had a bright orange carpet with a wooden bedside table and a queen-size bed, and a table lamp. There were two chairs hinting at convivial workplace collaborations.

As in the past, nothing was communicated with the staff that chose to stay after Elon Musk asked the employees to either quit or work hard for Twitter 2.0. The number of bedrooms is unclear for now, though some employees feel that it is a natural extension of staying in very late.
