Modi’s strong move in suddenly discontinuing the 500 and 1000 rupee notes to get rid of black money took the country in shock. However, for Jagadish and Kiran Sharma, the discontinuation of the notes caused a lot more than just shock.

The couple who reside in Mumbai needed medical help but were denied for not having the right amount in usable notes. Kiran was pregnant and went into labor on Wednesday. The couple then went to the Jeevan Jyot hospital, private hospital, where they have been getting regular check-ups. However, that is where they were denied services because they could not present the amount, Rs 6000, in denominations other than of 500 or 1000 rupee notes.
As a result, Jagadish and Kiran lost their newborn baby. About that day, Jagadish said, “I requested them again and again, even telling them that the government has directed hospitals to accept 500 and 1000 rupee notes for a few more days but they refused to hear us out.”
