BJP finished a distant third in the Jubilee Hills By-election. In a constituency with a strong urban voter base, the BJP candidate could not even save his deposit. This result shocked party supporters who expected stronger performance in a high-profile seat.
Jubilee Hills falls under the larger segment represented by senior leader Kishan Reddy, who is also in the Union Cabinet. He leads the BJP Telangana unit as well. Many within the party feel he must take responsibility for this setback.
The defeat embarrassed the BJP at a time when the party is pushing hard against Congress nationally. While the Saffron Party is gaining strength in several states, its struggles in Telangana continue to draw attention. Internal discussions have already begun.
Reports say the BJP High Command has summoned Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind to Delhi. There is growing talk that the leadership sees him as a potential face to guide the party in Telangana. It is also rumoured that he could replace Kishan Reddy in the Union Cabinet.
BJP grew quickly in Telangana under an aggressive leader like Bandi Sanjay. But before the 2023 elections, the High Command slowed down its approach to prevent Congress gains and keep BRS in the race. The plan failed. With BRS losing again in the By-election, BJP now wants to back itself.
If Dharmapuri Arvind takes charge, the political heat will rise. The fight will not stop at Congress. It will extend to weakening BRS further. Kavitha’s suspension removed one major concern for KCR, as the Delhi Liquor Scam no longer directly troubles the party.
In the coming days, BRS will face attacks from both Revanth Reddy and the BJP. The political environment is set to get tougher, and the pressure on BRS will increase sharply.
