BJP Sets Sights on Three Segments in Chittoor

In the joint Chittoor district, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contemplating its seat-sharing strategy in alliance with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Janasena. The district is known for being a world-famous spiritual place, and the party’s focus is expected to include Tirupati for a parliamentary seat.

Regarding assembly seats, BJP sources suggest that the party might seek one or two seats each in Tirupati, Srikalahasti, Madanapalle, and Tamballapalle. Local leaders like Kola Anand, who maintains the party’s presence in Srikalahasti, are expected to influence the decision. Anand has significant contacts with important leaders, which may add pressure for the BJP to consider him for the Srikalahasti seat.

In Tirupati, local party leaders are actively pushing for a chance to contest, utilizing their involvement in fighting controversial decisions made by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) both locally and through the legal system. Similarly, Challapalli Narasimha Reddy, a senior BJP leader in the west, is making efforts to secure a chance to contest from Madanapalle or Tamballapalle.

He has a history of contesting from these constituencies, both independently and in alliance with other parties. The final decision on how many seats and which specific seats the BJP will seek in the joint Chittoor district is yet to be confirmed by the party leadership.
