Talks are going on between TDP and BJP regarding the exchange of the Kadapa MP seat and the Jammalamadugu MLA seat.
Bhupesh Reddy worked as Jammalamadugu TDP Incharge for more than three years. But then, the BJP got the seat for Bhupesh’s uncle Adinarayana Reddy.
Chandrababu sent Bhupesh Reddy as Kadapa MP.
But then, there is a change of plan all of a sudden.
YS Sharmila is confirmed to contest for Kadapa Parliament. YS Sunitha and her family will campaign for her.
If she is able to eat into some part of YSR Congress’s vote bank, there is a real chance that the Opposition can win this seat. So, Adinarayana Reddy is suddenly interested. Anyways, the BJP is more interested in Parliament seats than Assembly seats.
Bhupesh Reddy is also happy to take Jammalamadugu because he worked there on the ground and moreover, electioneering is easier in an Assembly segment than in the Parliament segment for a first-timer.
There are pros and cons for TDP in this. For Chandrababu, Assembly seats are most important. Moreover, the impact of Sharmila at this point of time is only an assumption. So, the offer looks good.
But if the Kadapa Parliament ticket is given to the BJP, Muslims in the Assembly segments of Kadapa may get offended and may become counter-productive.
So, it is better if Chandrababu does not allow this. If he goes after the Jammalamadugu seat, there can be a negative impact on all the Assembly segments of Kadapa. If there is a winning chance in Kadapa Parliament, it is always better to have it than give it away to the BJP.
Kadapa is an important segment given the fact it is Jagan’s native.
Also, BJP candidate may not derieve Sharmila advantage in Kadapa Parliament and that can actually help Avinash Reddy. There are doubts if the BJP is helping YSR Congress by asking for Kadapa Parliament.
