BJP Launches National Leadership Grooming Drive

BJP youth leadership programme

BJP has launched a major leadership grooming push across the country. Over 1000 young professionals aged 25 to 40 are being selected. They will go through three years of mentoring before joining the party system.

Around 200 of them will get roles in state and central party bodies. Political observers say a generational shift is taking place inside the party. The move aims to prepare new leaders for future responsibilities.

This programme is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of udiptaman karyakarta. During his Indepence Day speech he spoke about bringing one lakh youth without pitical backgrounds into politics. This drive is the first phase of that plan.

Selections will be done through consultations with RSS affiliated organisations, social groups and professional bodies. BJP is looking for karyakartas from innovation, skill development, social work, community development and business. The focus is on diverse real world experience.

The idea is to balance social and regional representation. It also aims to create a broad leadership base for India. The three year training will cover organisation and governance to prepare them for larger roles.

Out of the selected group 200 will be absorbed into the party. Another 300 will be placed in government institutions, organisations and committees. Around 500 will be trained as future electoral and grassroots leaders.

The focus on youth without political families is meant to challenge dynastic politics. BJP believes this will bring fresh thinking and merit into the system. The move is seen as a long term strategy for party growth.
