The ruling party is trying to bring up suspension whip on opposition members if they come into the well. To counter this, Congress is planning to put up a no-confidence motion in the session. Even though the party has no numbers to ensure victory, they will get ample time for discussion on various issues.

No-confidence motion will also force the government to allow voting on the motion to corner seven of its MLAs who have defected to the ruling TRS. Except for Congress, the defected MLAs of other parties may be safe as the Speaker merged those parties into TRS Legislative Party.

Congress had won 20 MLAs in 2014 elections. Narsampet MLA Donthu Madhava Reddy, who won as an independent candidate, has since become an associate member of the Congress and, including him, after seven MLAs defecting, the party has 14 MLAs. Any party with the support of 10 percent of the total strength of the house can move a no-confidence motion.
