The Central government had expressed its inability to bail out Telangana state from the power crisis. The Power Minister Piyush Goyal had confirmed that there is no extra power with the Center to allot Telangana but promised to continue the existing 100MW help till March next year. However the minister confirmed that Center is committed to construct 4000MW NTPC for Telangana according to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. The minister said that the first phase of 1600MW will begin construction very soon.
On the other side, Telangana government is planning 6000MW Power projects in the coming years. The Minister did not even assure of coal supply to these power projects. Piyush Goyal said that Chandra Babu Naidu was the first CM to approach the center for the 24 hours power pilot project and hence the Center selected AP for the project. Telangana government is very much disappointed with the center’s attitude towards the new state and are calling it showing favouritism towards AP.
