Since the delimitation in 2009, the Puthalapattu Assembly segment in Chittoor district has been a Scheduled Caste (SC) reserved constituency. The TDP has lost the election in this segment three times in a row. In the upcoming elections, TDP President Chandrababu Naidu has announced Murali Mohan, a former HMTV journalist in United Chittoor district, as the TDP candidate for Puthalapattu.
Chandrababu mentioned that Murali Mohan was appointed in-charge only after the leaders of the five mandals in the Puthalapattu constituency came together and accepted him. Chandrababu highlighted Murali Mohan’s education and availability to all voters in the segment. He urged voters to support Murali Mohan by contributing Rs. 10 each and voting for the TDP (represented by the “Cycle” symbol) rather than accepting money from the YSRCP, which is allegedly offering Rs. 5000 per vote.
It appears that the TDP is focusing on giving opportunities to youth candidates, which is why there is a change in the candidate for the Puthalapattu segment. In the past, Lalith Kumari was the TDP candidate for Puthalapattu in all three elections when the party faced defeat.
The recent incident in Punganoor on Friday reflects the frustration of the YSRCP, as TDP youth leader Nara Lokesh’s Yuvagalam Padayatra organized a selfie challenge at industries and organizations, causing turmoil among the ruling party leaders.
Additionally, Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to various projects is creating confusion among YSRCP leaders, especially in Pulivendula, which is CM Jagan’s home district and constituency. Chandrababu’s roadshow and public meetings in Pulivendula were highly successful, further increasing the turmoil among YSRCP leaders.
