In this regard, the government issued GO 51 on August 30. If the CBI investigates any case in the state, it is necessary to take the permission of the state government.

It seems that the government has taken this important decision two months ago in the background of the recent developments that there is a possibility of filing CBI cases by the BJP-led Central Government.

Chandrababu Naidu revoked the consent before the elections but YSR Congress used it to corner him. Most likely KCR will also do it and it has to be seen how the Opposition will use it.

Currently, nine states (all non-BJP-ruled states) like West Bengal, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and others have revoked the consent.

Back then, the Opposition used it to corner Chandrababu saying that the consent was revoked to protect the corrupt. BJP is likely to use the same plank against KCR.

The consent only pertains to cases of Central Employees working in the state. It does not pertain to political leaders.

Revoking this consent would not work wonders in TRS’s favor but KCR is just using it to ascertain its power. But it can boomerang politically.

Back then, Chandrababu Naidu and now KCR are indicating that even the most brilliant politicians will commit the silliest mistakes when they are under pressure.
