It is emerging that Union Home Ministry had approved the Local Status change request of the Andhra Pradesh Government. The Home Ministry now sent the file to Union Law Ministry for its approval. This is a key step forward to employees shift to Amaravathi.

Andhra Pradesh government sent a proposal to the center to make all the people ‘Local’ to Amaravathi, they choose to return before June 30, 2017. This was to make sure all the government staffers return to Vijayawada from Hyderabad and they and their children become Local here.
Previously, the Union Home Ministry had written to the state that it would not move forward on the request for change in ‘local status’ rules unless the state government “justifies” it within the legal framework. There were worries all over if this would delay employees shift, but with center finally moving the file, the state government is relieved.
