Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu chose a unique way to celebrate World Environment Day on June 5, 2026.
He decided to ditch his usual heavy security convoy for a portion of his official tour in Visakhapatnam. Instead, the Chief Minister mounted a bicycle and personally rode through the streets of the city.
He cycled all the way from the helipad to his accommodation at the Novotel hotel. He was in the port city to attend a prominent National Workshop on Seafood Exports.
The surprise move was a deliberate effort to lead by example. Through this ride, he aimed to send a loud and clear message about cutting down pollution and saving fuel.
Taking to social media, CM Naidu reminded everyone that the Earth is our only home and nature is our ultimate lifeline. He urged government officials and common citizens alike to start using bicycles or e-bikes.
To back his vision, the Telugu Desam Party launched a massive state-wide bicycle campaign. Cycle rallies are being organized across various towns, villages, and constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.
Along with the cycling push, the Chief Minister also made an earnest appeal to the public. He requested every individual in the state to plant at least one sapling to help fight climate change.
The visuals of the Chief Minister cycling down the Vizag coast have already gone viral on social media, sparking a massive conversation about personal environmental responsibility.
