The Chandrababu Naidu Government in Andhra Pradesh is being seen as a strong example in disaster management. With proactive planning and technology-based systems, the administration managed the Cyclone Montha situation effectively.
Chandrababu Naidu, known for his crisis handling, set up a dedicated War Room. He monitored the situation round the clock and directed officials to stay alert. Due to this preparedness, loss of life was significantly reduced.
The Government has now shifted focus to relief and rehabilitation for affected citizens. Data is being collected on property and crop damage to compensate farmers and families in need. This process is being carried out on priority.
As our readers know, Nara Lokesh introduced WhatsApp Governance for more than 300 citizen services. The same system is now being used to assess losses caused by the cyclone.
Messages are being sent to citizens across the state, asking them to report any damages in a specified format. Verified reports will be compensated as per government guidelines.
The first 48 hours are crucial for assessing crop and property loss during natural disasters. The Government has already announced financial assistance for those staying in relief camps and rehabilitation centres. More support will follow for property, crops and cattle loss.
This model shows how technology and quick decision making can improve disaster response. Alert leadership and modern tools helped speed up relief efforts. The state is also waiting for Central Government support to manage this crisis further.
Preliminary reports show large-scale agricultural damage, with standing crops affected in about 38,000 hectares and horticulture crops damaged across 1.38 lakh hectares.
Essential services are being restored quickly in coastal districts. In Konaseema, where over 300 electric poles fell and 54 substations were damaged, nearly 80% of power restoration is already complete. More than 10,000 personnel are working on repairs across the state.
Road clearance work is also progressing rapidly. Over 134 km of main roads have been cleared of fallen trees and debris. APSRTC bus services are back to full operations, and National Highway 16 has also been restored for traffic.
These ongoing measures highlight the administration’s immediate response and efficient disaster management strategy.
