The current week was expected to boost the box office across regions. However, the results have remained below expectations. Most new releases failed to attract audiences, leading to a disappointing trend in both North and South markets.
Raja Shivaji provided some relief with decent collections over the weekend. The film earned around Rs. 33 crores and showed growth after its opening. However, the Hindi version underperformed, contributing only Rs. 19 crores to the total.
Mohanlal’s Patriot managed to hold steady despite mixed reviews. It opened at Rs. 10 crores and reached Rs. 21 crores by the weekend. Dhanush’s Kara collected Rs. 23 crores in four days but could not sustain momentum.
KD: The Devil struggled significantly at the box office. The film collected around Rs. 13 crores and was labelled a flop. The low numbers reflected poor audience response and limited growth after release.
Bhooth Bangla showed better stability compared to other films. It earned Rs. 14 crores during its third weekend. The total collection has now reached Rs. 136 crores, indicating a consistent performance over time.
Among Hollywood releases, The Devil Wears Prada 2 did not perform strongly. The film opened with Rs. 1 crore and saw fluctuating numbers over the weekend. In comparison, Michael remained ahead with Rs. 11 crores.
Ek Din emerged as the biggest failure of the week. The film collected only Rs. 2 crores in three days. Weak promotions and low audience interest contributed to its poor performance at the box office.
Looking ahead, there are no major releases scheduled in the coming weeks. Some Hindi films are expected, but they follow similar themes. Theatre owners are now waiting for Toxic, hoping it can draw audiences back to cinemas.
