After taking charge as Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu has been striving to attract investment into the state by all possible means. The Vijayawada floods further motivated him to promote the Amaravati brand to the world, and he used the ‘Drone Summit 2024’ as an opportunity to do so.
The Amaravati drone show broke records, setting new Guinness World Records in all five categories. Thousands of people gathered along the banks of the Krishna River to witness the event. Since drone technology is relatively new, many attendees showed great interest in participating in the summit.
At one point, 5,500 drones ascended simultaneously, lighting up the sky like stars. These drones, resembling thousands of stars, followed programming instructions through their sensors to deliver a stunning performance. The first theme highlighted the history of the aviation sector.
The show included a tribute to the first aviation postage stamp, featuring the airplane created by the Wright Brothers, pioneers who revolutionized aviation. During the 1911-1961 Golden Jubilee, the first aerial post was introduced with one-rupee Indian postal stamps.
Boeing showcased the world’s largest aircraft, symbolizing modern, comfortable air travel. The event also described the Amaravati Drone Summit as a historic moment, with drones forming an image of Buddha, highlighting the Vijayawada International Airport and the future of Amaravati.
A drone hackathon was conducted, with 500 participants competing on themes such as drone applications in agriculture, forest fire prevention, urban planning (including the detection of unauthorized constructions), gas pipeline inspections, public safety, healthcare, medical supply transportation, road accident prevention, and reviewing development projects. Contestants presented innovative concepts to address these challenges.
