Chandrababu Naidu is an able administrator and there is no doubt about it. But then as a politician, he often gets too defensive and that mindset at times comes with a heavy price.
Elections in Andhra Pradesh are coming closer. We are days away from the schedule announcement. Elections are likely to happen in April. There is a buzz that the polling may happen in the first phase itself.
Jagan Mohan Reddy already announced five lists of candidates. There is a negative response for his approach but then, he has finalized a good number of candidates already.
Chandrababu Naidu has this habit of dillydallying until the last minute to announce the candidates. The last year, we have seen him say that he would announce candidates six months prior but the old habit has returned.
TDP’s list this time is likely to be very complicated as the party has to accomodate Janasena as well. If the announcement is delayed, there is no chance of course correction.
The leaders who will lose tickets will make a mess. Naidu may not even find time to explain them. Also, if Janasena is not given the seats their supporters are expecting, there should be some time for Pawan Kalyan to convince them so that the vote transfer will happen smoothly.
If there is an alliance with BJP, it is another headache to deal with. The delay in candidates announcement may backfire, Chandrababu should note.
