Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expanded his cabinet this morning bringing in 19 new faces. The new list do not have any representation from BJP ally, TDP. However it is emerging that Modi offered one cabinet berth for TDP but Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu refused to take it and only asked for more funds for the state.

Taking a cabinet berth at this time, when the state is seething in anger on Center’s insensitive attitude towards the state, will send wrong signals to the people. Naidu is very well aware about it and informed Amit Shah that TDP is not keen on ministerial berths but instead asked to give more funds to the state.
Modi also offered one MoS ministry to BJP’s other ally, Shiv Sena but the latter also refused it asking for two cabinet rank berths. Modi and Amit Shah seem to have given importance for the leaders hailing from the states which will go to election very soon. The list has several who are OBCs, five Dalits, two from minority communities and two women.
