All of sudden, there are rumours about Chiranjeevi joining Telugu Desam Party very soon. There is no official confirmation about this news anywhere but M9.news tries to circumvent the circumstances around Chiranjeevi and his political career. Chiranjeevi had almost lost hopes on politics after his merging with Congress. Accepting a Rajya Sabha seat itself indicates that he is not game for electoral politics going forward.

Even the supporters of the actor believe that it is tough for him to contest elections directly and win. For that reason, Chiranjeevi did not shift to other parties, even though Congress is almost dead and sees no chance of revival in the near future. Also, he started shooting of his 150th film and as well announced that he is going to do continue in films.
All these indications give a feeling, that he will only continue in politics until his Rajya Sabha term is over and may at most consider another such nominated position. Even in case, Congress can not accommodate him further, TDP may not be a wise option for him personally as there are several issues against that. His supporters would like to see him maybe in Jana Sena than in TDP. But Chiranjeevi will be a decent buy for TDP as the ruling party is in the process of wooing Kapu caste in the recent times.
Considering all this, Chiranjeevi joining TDP may not be convincing. But then nothing can be ruled out in politics especially with Chiranjeevi. We have seen some of the best ‘Self Goals’ ever in the history of Telugu Politics coming from Chiranjeevi and it may not be that hard to deliver one more here.
