The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is once again drawing attention with its latest political campaign. After its earlier protests that were followed by the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the group has now turned its focus towards Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has demanded Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, citing allegations concerning the Election Commission’s handling of electoral rolls and the electoral process. These are allegations made by Dipke and the CJP and have not been established as facts.
The latest development came on September 25. Dipke said that if Gyanesh Kumar does not resign by September 26, the CJP will begin a nationwide protest from Mumbai on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, and take the agitation to cities across India.
The CJP has also demanded that upcoming elections be frozen and has called for changes to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The demands come amid a wider controversy surrounding the Election Commission and the SIR exercise.
The movement has gained national attention since its formation in May 2026. It emerged after remarks by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant triggered an online response that eventually developed into the Cockroach Janta Party and a youth-led political movement.
The group’s earlier campaign against Dharmendra Pradhan was linked to protests over alleged irregularities surrounding the NEET-UG examination. Pradhan resigned as Union Education Minister in July, after which the CJP claimed the development as a result of its movement.
The latest confrontation with Gyanesh Kumar now puts the CJP back in the national political spotlight. Whether the proposed October 2 nationwide protest goes ahead will depend on developments following the deadline announced by Abhijeet Dipke.
