During the meeting, Rahul Gandhi asked the leaders to share their opinions on Sharmila, the daughter of former CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy, taking charge of the state Congress. With the exception of two former MPs, all others expressed support by raising their hands.
The two leaders raised concerns about the possibility of Sharmila emulating her elder brother, YS Jaganmohan Reddy. In response, Rahul assured them that steps would be taken to prevent such a scenario and emphasized that the decision has been finalized. He warned against any deviation from this decision.

The political dynamics become intriguing as it remains to be seen how Jagan’s mother, YS Vijayalakshmi, will react if Sharmila assumes leadership in the Andhra Pradesh Congress. Since the family disputes that arose after the 2019 elections, Vijayalakshmi has stood by her daughter’s side.
Sharmila, having differences with her brother, formed the YSRTP in Telangana, and Vijayalakshmi supported her in that endeavor. Vijayalakshmi announced her allegiance to Sharmila. It raises curiosity about the political stance Vijayalakshmi will adopt in Andhra Pradesh.
