The decision of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to form an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming general elections has been met with resistance from many cadre members and common people. They believe that the BJP has been irresponsible for various issues in Andhra Pradesh over the past five years and transferring votes to the BJP from the TDP will be challenging.
TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu faces the daunting task of ensuring victory for BJP candidates in the alliance. In the allocation of parliamentary seats, TDP has agreed to give six seats, including Rajahmundry, to the BJP. Chandrababu Naidu has urged BJP leaders to select candidates who will be approved by the people.
Purandreswari, the President of the Andhra Pradesh BJP, has been actively exposing policies and irregularities of the Jagan government since assuming her role. Her candidature for the Rajahmundry parliamentary seat as the BJP nominee has been welcomed by both the public and TDP cadre, leveraging her identity as the daughter of NTR to connect with voters.
Another prominent face from the BJP, Raghurama Krishna Raju (RRR), is expected to contest from Narsapuram. RRR has gained significant popularity through his activism against the YSRCP government over the past five years, particularly with his “Racchabanda” initiatives from New Delhi.
Even if Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy secures the Rajampet MP ticket, he is expected to receive support from both the public and TDP cadre despite contesting from the BJP. One more reason is Kiran brother Kishore is contesting from Pileru Assembly segment which comes under Rajampet Parliament.BJP is hardly trying for acceptance faces to accommodate in remaining three Parliament seats in AP like Tirupati, Araku and Anakapalli.
