Dipa Karmakar despite not winning a medal at the recently concluded Olympic Games, her pathbreaking performance was lauded by everyone and V Chamundeswaranath, president of the Hyderabad Badminton Association through former Cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar presented her a BMW car for making the country proud.

But then, Dipa has decided to return the car to the original owner due to the difficulty Dipa and her family is having to maintain such a posh car in a city like Agartala, where the roads are narrow and not well-maintained. Dipa wants to get rid of the car and concentrate on her next assignment, the Challengers’ Cup in Germany which is a month away.
Her Coach Bishewar Nandi confirmed this development and said it was a collective decision taken by her family and him. The coach reportedly is looking at a cash reward equivalent to the car which will help her bear the training and other expenses. Dipa and Chamundeswaranath are not available for a comment.
