Often in India, women have to undergo not only eve teasing and street harassment, but also unsolicited advice from strangers about what not to wear. Such was the matter in case of Bengaluru-based journalist Aishhwariya Subramanian who was recently told by an autorikshaw-driver that she was inappropriately dressed in her knee-length sundress.

Aishhwariya was returning home from someplace and after paying the driver, Srikanth, the rickshaw driver said “Please don’t mind me but what you are wearing is inappropriate.” In fact he even gave her permission to take his picture because he thought that most of the people will agree with him.
Aishhwariya was not about to take this lying down and told him clearly that as long as she was a paying customer, he had no right to tell her what she can or cannot wear. In consequence, the driver got out of the auto and proceeded to tell her why she shouldn’t be dressed like a slut.
