ED summons Yuvraj Sonu Sood betting apps

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued notices to former cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Robin Utappa, along with actor Sonu Sood, in connection with the online betting apps case. The ED found that Yuvraj Singh had frequently promoted betting apps.

He has been summoned to appear before the agency on 23 September. Sonu Sood is expected to appear on 24 September, while Robin Utappa has been asked to appear on 22 September.

Earlier, actors Mimi Chakraborty and Urvashi Rautela were also summoned for their alleged involvement in the same case. The ED has intensified its investigation into celebrities endorsing or associating with illegal betting platforms.

Cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina were previously questioned in a money laundering case linked to betting apps. Shikhar Dhawan was reportedly interrogated regarding his connections with a specific betting platform.

The ED is currently probing multiple cases related to the promotion and usage of betting apps. It is yet to be seen whether the former cricketers will comply with the summons and appear as directed.

Betting apps have caused major financial losses for users and, in some tragic cases, even led to suicides. After growing public outrage, the Central Government took action and introduced the Promotion and Regulation of Online Betting Bill on 21 August.
