Chevireddy-Bhaskar-Reddy

Chandragiri YSRCP MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy has been relocated from Chittoor to Ongole. YS Jagan has declared Chevireddy as the nominee of YSRCP for the Ongole Parliament seat. There was speculation that Chevireddy had been transferred from Tirupati to Ongole.

Parameswara Reddy assumed the role of District SP on February 12. However, after the Election Commission reprimanded SP Parameshwara Reddy, the administration was thrown into disarray. Additionally, the ranks of the YSRCP were shaken. Party leaders expressed discontent over the departure of the SP, who was deemed crucial during elections.

Meanwhile, concerns arise that lower-level police officers may face repercussions if a thorough investigation is conducted into the murder of tribal youth Munaiah. The SP’s removal appears to have boosted the morale of the TDP alliance.

However, Parameswara Reddy has faced political controversies in the past. Complaints were lodged with the Election Commission regarding the alleged protection of suspects during the Tirupati Lok Sabha by-election.

Parameswara Reddy’s transfer to the district was confirmed following the decision that Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy would contest as the YSRCP MP candidate for the Ongole Lok Sabha seat. Last month, a tribal youth affiliated with the TDP was murdered in Maheswarapuram of Giddalur constituency. The incident was allegedly linked to the YSRCP.

The Election Commission thoroughly investigated issues such as the failure to protect Munaiah despite prior warning of a plot to kill him, allegations of coercion to prevent the deceased’s wife from revealing the names of YSRCP leaders involved, and dismissal of complaints regarding the involvement of two YSRCP leaders at the village and mandal levels in the murder conspiracy.

The entire system has been scrutinized following the SP’s removal. YSRCP leaders, who had hoped to influence TDP alliance polling agents with the SP’s cooperation, now face threats. Notably, TDP alliance leaders openly express their belief that Chevireddy’s alleged involvement in red sandalwood smuggling has been exposed, as stated by TDP leader Chandrababu.
