Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra has been certified ‘A’ by the CBFC on September 11 with a runtime of 2 hours, 23 minutes and 16 seconds.
The investigative thriller stars Kareena Kapoor Khan as DCP Ajooni Kohli and Prithviraj Sukumaran as DCP Raman Kumar.
They usually play two officers on opposite sides of justice who work together after a girl is kidnapped, raped and murdered, with a juvenile accused and a controversial encounter in between.
The film marks Kareena’s 10th A rated film, after Ajnabee, Chameli, Dev, Omkara, Kurbaan, Heroine, Udta Punjab, Veere Di Wedding and The Buckingham Murders.
Inspired by multiple true cases across India, not just the 2019 Hyderabad case, Daayra questions juvenile protection law and encounters justice.
Surprisingly, Kunal Kemmu’s Vibe also got an A certificate with a runtime of 2 hours, 25 minutes and 55 seconds.
Directed by and starring Kunal himself, along with Preity G Zinta in her second comeback film after Batwara 1947, Sparsh Shrivastava and Dinesh Lal Yadav, the film was positioned as a fun entertainer in the Madgaon Express zone.
That also makes its adult rating a shock for many.
