Farmers Take R-5 Issue To SC Ahead Of Jagan!

Ap Govt Supreme CourtThe Andhra Pradesh Government has taken a decision to approach the Supreme Court in response to the order issued by the High Court regarding the construction of houses in the R-5 zone. The government is making efforts to file a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court, and the government lawyers are currently studying the copy of the High Court judgment.

Discussions have been held with senior advocates of the Supreme Court to highlight key points mentioned in the verdict. In reaction to the government’s actions, the lawyers representing the farmers have decided to file a caveat in the Supreme Court. Karumanchi Indranil Babu, the lawyer representing the farmers, stated that a caveat petition has already been filed.

The High Court has previously stayed the construction of houses in the R-5 zone and issued orders to halt the construction immediately. This decision came after Rayapudi Dalit Bahujan Welfare JAC and Farmers Welfare Associations filed lawsuits challenging Act 13/2022, GIO 45, which amended the CRDA Act concerning the R5 zone in the capital Amaravati.

Anticipating that the Jagan government might appeal to the Supreme Court after the High Court’s verdict on the R-5 zone, the farmers proactively approached the Supreme Court before the government took any further action.
