‘Fat Tax’ Why Not for AP and Telangana?

Fat Tax', Fat Tax Telangana, Fat Tax Andhra Pradesh, Fat Tax Hyderabad, Fat Tax Amaravati, Fat Tax Telugu States, Fat Tax Junk FoodKerala government had introduced a Fat Tax on the junk food available in branded restaurants of the state. An extra tax of 14.5% will be levied on all the items they sell. This is to make sure the people stay away from junk food and face problems like obesity. Several countries already have this Fat Tax.

But it is also the most debated topic, as some argue that it would help reduce obesity rates and some others question the need to impose a tax on people, who are otherwise healthy, and occasionally get the junk food to satisfy their taste buds. There are demands that this Fat Tax needs to be imposed in Telugu States as well.

Telangana particularly Hyderabad is a hub of easily available junk foods from local fast food centers to the McDonalds, KFCs etc. The trend is slowly picking in cities of Andhra Pradesh as well. Some argue why not a Fat Tax on such unhealthy food while food lovers says nothing doing.
