Though the authorities are accepting old currency notes, the sale of tickets was not encouraging as people were hesitant to spend the Rs 100 denomination notes to buy lower denomination (Rs 100, Rs 200, Rs 300) tickets as they are being very careful about spending the limited cash with them.

And then the authorities were also not able to give change to the 2000 notes offered by the people. As a result, the ticket sales are down totally. Vishakapatnam is hosting its first ever Test Match from Thursday and may have to sport empty stands now. The officials are only selling the high-priced tickets online, as a result, the low-priced tickets are being unsold.

India managed to ‘draw’ the first test and had to almost snatch it from the jaws of defeat. We are told that the pitch at Vishakapatnam is going to be Rank Turner and so India is hopeful of putting up a better show this time. KL Rahul who recovered from an injury is likely to replace Gautam Gambhir for the second test.
