Forty-one people lost their lives in the Karur stampede on Saturday night. An FIR has been filed against Thalapathy Vijay’s TVK party, alleging that the actor deliberately delayed his arrival at the rally to project strength.
According to reports, the rally was scheduled to begin at 8 am, with crowds expected by 11 am. Vijay was supposed to address them in the afternoon. However, he reached only at 7 pm, which authorities claim was intentional.
The FIR also mentions that Vijay’s bus was expected to go directly to the venue but instead made multiple stops. This created traffic issues and violated permissions, causing further chaos before his arrival.
It is alleged that neither the actor-politician nor senior leader N Anand paid attention to complaints about food, water, and basic facilities. By the time Vijay arrived, the exhausted crowd panicked, leading to the tragic stampede.
The police have also named the TVK district secretary, state secretary, and state general secretary in the FIR. Investigations are ongoing, with social media posts being checked for more details to prevent further incidents.
Meanwhile, Vijay and TVK have dismissed the case as a political conspiracy and have moved the Madras High Court for relief.
