The new Telangana BJP President N Rama Chander Rao stirred the hornet’s nest by announcing that five BRS MLAs will be joining the BJP soon.
We have been seeing sitting MLAs joining the ruling party in Telugu politics for the last 25 years. But joining the opposition party is something new.
Former Achampet MLA Guvvala Balaraju is joining the BJP on Sunday.
In the 2023 elections, BRS won 39 seats. Congress won 64, MIM 7, BJP 8, and CPI 1 seat. 10 BRS MLAs have switched to the ruling Congress. Out of the remaining 29, BRS lost the cantonment seat in the by-election.
The party has 28 remaining MLAs.
There are rumors that some of them would join the Congress, but that did not happen as the BRS is seriously pursuing the Disqualification case in the Supreme Court.
But now, Ram Chander Rao is saying that five BRS MLAs will join his party.
If we look at reality, they should join the ruling Congress, but the question is why they will join the BJP, which is in the opposition in the state.
Is Ram Chander Rao bluffing to stay in the news? We do not know!
But if he is saying the truth. The BRS sitting MLAs in rural areas may not be inclined to join the BJP.
However, it can be assumed that those in the GHMC area may join the saffron party. Also, this is where BRS has the highest number of MLAs.
Moreover, Ramachandra Rao also belongs to Hyderabad. Will the old acquaintances work?
If the BRS MLAs opt to join the BJP, it will be an equally bigger blow to Revanth Reddy.
It will send a message that Congress has no future beyond 2028 and the Jumping Jacks are seeing the real potential in the BJP.
So, if the statement – “Five BRS MLAs joining BJP” is correct, it will have a bearing impact on the state politics.
