Free RTC Bus Travel for Women is the first promise to be implemented by Revanth Reddy after coming to Power.
Revanth Reddy’s victory has come as a shock to the BRS and YSR Congress ecosystems. For BRS, he is almost out of the syllabus, and for YSR Congress, they see him as a TDP man who could attend Chandrababu Naidu in the Andhra Pradesh elections.
So, the Free RTC Bus has become a Propaganda Tool.
For any scheme, the implementation will have teething issues initially.
The Pro-BRS media and Social Media are highlighting the issues a little too much.
Free Bus Travel is not a money scheme. It is something that can be flaunted and experienced. So, there are joyrides and non-essential travels initially.
Hence, the crowd is being too much in the Buses. Also, the Autos are impacted. That is expected. It happened when Uber and Ola were first introduced.
Autos will still have demand because not every woman will take autos and there is no last-mile connectivity in RTC.
Autowallahs will naturally have the initial panic.
Social media is flooded with videos of seat problems and worried Autowallahs.
People do not sympathize with autowallahs who always squeeze money so the videos have died down. But the ‘Seat Problem’ videos are still on.
In fact, the fights for seats in RTC Buses are never new. It is a problem of ages but social media is glorifying that like never before for obvious reasons.
Despite the issues, the poor and the middle class who would save some bucks with this scheme will definitely like it despite what social media says. At the end of the day, the common man’s struggle is all about saving some bucks even at the cost of some inconvenience.
Since TDP has announced this as part of their 2024 manifesto. YSR Congress’s social media also joined hands to spread such videos to stop the promise of becoming an election issue.
